Direct mail is a form of marketing that consists of sending a physical piece of promotional material through the Postal Service or another service to a home or business. Some recipients refer to them as "junk mail" as it arrives uninvited most of the time.


There are different types of direct mail; some of the most common include articles such as letters, promotional items, catalogs, postcards, coupons, stickers, magnets, and more. However, not only the article sent is important, there are also other essential components of a successful direct mail campaign.


When using direct mail to grow your business, make sure you take into consideration the following things.


  • List of potential customers

Make sure you have an organized list of potential customers. You can divide it into segments, so you will be able to personalize the mail according to the type of people.


  • Target your audience

Please do not send generic mail to all your audience, make sure you know the people you want to reach and classify the mail items you will send since not everybody likes to receive letters or postcards.

If you have a cleaning company, perhaps, you can use this tool to send discount coupons for your potential clients to try the service out for the first time with a special discount. In addition, direct mail is a powerful marketing way because it creates a tangible and interactive experience for the audience. Receiving a physically useful item or service as a gift or with a special discount provides an emotional experience for the audience, since people get very excited when receiving these kinds of things.
